Chesters offers exciting, delicious and different food made from scratch everyday. We make and bake everything ourselves from our tiny kitchen and bakery. Jams, chutneys, curds, pickles, cakes, breads, pastries and, of course, our breakfasts and lunches. Our food is available to eat in and take away and our ever growing 'Own Brand' products are available in the shop.
Chesters seats about 90 inside and when we can (when the rain is not torrential!) we can open the doors to the decking over the Brathay and seat another 70 outside too.
We are extremely lucky to be where we are, an exceptionally beautiful location at the start of the Langdale Valley, overlooking the west face of Loughrigg and in the very heart of the Lake District.




About our suppliers
Our incredible fruit and vegetables come from Derek (the man who hardly sleeps) Derek drives to the 4am Manchester and London food markets to handpick straight from the suppliers. Delivering us the freshest, ripest and tastiest fruit and vegetables in the morning, before he goes for a nap. We love him.

Our milk and cream have come from Aunty Janet at
Townend Dairy in Windermere since the day we opened all those years ago

Our meat is from Higginsons and daughters - based in Grange-over-sands. Voted Britains Best Butcher they are endlessly helpful, passionate about what they do and they happen to make the most delicious pork pies ever! (Try the Hunstmans)

Our eggs are free range and come from Bannerigg Farm just outside Windermere.

Fairtrade and Organic - Our teas, coffee and hot chocolate are all fairtrade, and are supplied by Farrers of Kendal.
